Context

Design hospital architecture in remote areas. An architecture that seeks first of all to «shelter, protect and care» for everyone. An architecture that responds to the climate, the function of the place, the needs of users and the preservation of the environment.

« A project that gives meaning to architecture as a public necessity ».

Architectural Concept

With the use of simple and geometric shapes, CHUR develops on a single level and its design follows a typology called comb. The overall plan of the project is composed of pavilions that follow each other, parallel to each other.

They are clearly identified and connected by a gallery that surrounds the patios that form the link between all buildings.

The different functional units are connected by two «streets»: one for public traffic and one for technical and medical traffic. Each building treating a different condition represents a service intimately linked to the technical platform (surgery, radiology…).

The presence of courtyards or gardens form the link between all the buildings that are grafted on, perpendicular or parallel. This form is the direct result of a reflection on hygiene, the desire for good ventilation, lighting and separation of pathologies to avoid the effects of contagion.
